Dominic Ghiglione is a third-year student at the University of Regina pursuing a Bachelor’s in Music/Music Education. He started playing trombone when he was 12 years old in the Regina Catholic Schools Band program, graduating from Dr. Martin LeBoldus Catholic High School in 2016.

Dominic has participated in the Regina Music Festival for the past three years, earning several first place including the Regina Lions Club Scholarship for Brass/Woodwinds in both 2017 and 2018 as well as the William Cornish Award for best overall soloist in the Regina Music Festival, Senior category in 2018. He has also been successful at the provincial level, performing in several honor groups and earning first place honors for his solo performances, most recently placing 3rd at the 2018 SMFA Grand Awards. In 2017, Dominic represented Saskatchewan in the brass category at the National Music Festival in Ottawa. He has also performed in the National Youth Band of Canada in 2015, 2016 and will again in 2019. Dominic has also participated in the Domaine Forget Academy in 2017 and 2018, receiving education from many of the top brass educators and performers throughout the world while also working alongside with some of the best young Canadian and American brass musicians. He has participated in masterclasses and lessons from Ian Bousfield, Peter Sullivan, Gordon Wolfe and Vanessa Fralick, among others. Dominic currently studies with Dr. David Dick, Principal Trombone of the Regina Symphony Orchestra and formerly with Colin Neufeld.  

Dominic is a regular member of the Regina Jazz Orchestra, Bob Moyer Big Band, and utility trombonist with the Regina Symphony Orchestra and participates within ensembles such as the University of Regina Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir and Orchestra and leads his own small jazz group the Point7 Jazz Collective.
