The Regina Musical Club invites you to get “Up Close & Personal!”, with a new interactive, educational concert series that introduces the instruments of the orchestra. This is your chance to get to know the strings, brass, and woodwind instruments close up! Featuring musicians of the Regina Symphony Orchestra, hear professionals introduce their instruments, play music that shows off what they do best, and answer your questions about what it’s like to play them.

Meet the Woodwinds! on Friday, March 6th at 5:30pm @ the Artesian featuring the principal woodwind players of the Regina Symphony Orchestra, Marie-Noelle Berthelet (flute), Tamsin Lorraine Johnston (oboe), Hyonsuk Kim (clarinet), and Kristy Tucker (bassoon). Get to know the woodwind instruments of the orchestra up close with chamber music by Beethoven, Françaix, Ibert, and more! Listeners will get to know each instrument individually as well as hear the many ways in which the sounds combine and interact to produce new colours. Come see first-hand how the woodwinds are the “storytellers of the orchestra” through rhythm and melody, and the ways in which their music can spark joy, humour, and whimsy.

All events are free for U of R students and 18 and under. Tickets for adults are $25 per show or $60 to attend all three

In addition to the public concerts, the RMC will also be taking this educational series to elementary schools in Regina including the Crescents School (Feb. 5th), St. Theresa Elementary School (Feb. 6th), and St. Matthew School (March 4th). Special thanks to an anonymous donor for making both the public and school concerts possible.
