The Regina Musical Club invites you to get “Up Close & Personal!”, with a new interactive, educational concert series that introduces the instruments of the orchestra. This is your chance to get to know the strings, brass, and woodwind instruments close up! Featuring musicians of the Regina Symphony Orchestra, hear professionals introduce their instruments, play music that shows off what they do best, and answer your questions about what it’s like to play them.
Meet the Strings! on Friday, February 6th at 5-6pm @ the Conservatory (room 210) featuring the Horizon String Quartet: Amy Hillis (violin), Jeremy Buzash (violin), Erin Hillis (viola), and Karla Hillis (cello). Get to know the string instruments up close and learn more about their roles in both a string quartet and the orchestra. Experience the virtuosity of the violin with “The Bumblebee”, the beauty of the cello with Borodin’s Nocturne, and the cheerfulness of the viola with Dvorak’s American Quartet. Plus music by Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Bartok, Taylor Swift and a special version of Star Wars!
All events are free for U of R students and 18 and under. Tickets for adults are $25 per show or $60 to attend all three
In addition to the public concerts, the RMC will also be taking this educational series to elementary schools in Regina including the Crescents School (Feb. 5th), St. Theresa Elementary School (Feb. 6th), and St. Matthew School (March 4th). Special thanks to an anonymous donor for making both the public and school concerts possible.
